Certified Hotel Administrator CHA

CHA, is a prestigious certification that recognizes leadership and managerial skills. General managers and hospitality executives provide leadership to every level of a hospitality operation. They establish the vision and lead their staff in executing it. Their dedication to the hospitality industry is evident in the way they seek out continuing education, manage their employees, and ensure the financial success of the property. Prerequisites: You can earn the CHA designation if you have been employed and currently working, for two years as a:

  • General manager
  • Owner/operator in a hotel
  • Corporate executive regional manager
  • Corporate director of operations
  • Assistant general manager
  • Director of operations/rooms division (after successfully completing the CRDE certification) or if you have ultimate corporate responsibility for rooms, marketing, finance, food and beverage, revenue management, human resources or engineering at a hotel company responsible for the operation of two or more properties.

Steps to follow:

  • Register by 31 October 2019
  • Approval from AH&LEI
  • Instructions for access to the CHA Online Review will be emailed to you.
  • Participate in Training review workshops in May and June 2020, in order to be prepared for Exams.
  • Take the CHA Online exam.
  • Study all 7 topics for a period of 6 months.
  • Total training time are 14 full days, 7 subjects, 2 days each.

The time in position requirement can be reduced by one year by meeting the following conditions:

  • One current AH&LEI department head certification
  • A degree from an accredited academic institution

Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS®)

The Certified Hospitality Supervisor CHS® is the most prestigious certification available to a hospitality supervisor. It is part of an elite group of hospitality professionals. A modular program, covering all knowledge and skills you need to distinguish a successful manager. Supervisors will gain the know-how to communicate effectively, motivate their employees, resolve workplace conflicts, and gain respect, trust and support from people work for them

Participants: The program is aimed at people in key positions, Department Heads, Supervisors in hotels, restaurants and generally in the tourism industry.

Certified Spa Supervisor (CSS)

The Certified Spa Supervisor (CSS) program is a certification for spa supervisors and managers.

The certification program was developed by the International SPA Association (ISPA) in partnership with AH&LEI, (the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute) to provide education and resources for spa supervisors who may be new to their positions or those who are seeking additional education and recognition

The CSS designation, a hallmark within the spa industry, signifies an understanding of basic supervisory skills and indicates a deep commitment and belief that continued education is fundamentally important in professional growth.

The program aims to help the waiters, acquire knowledge and skills to provide first rate service but also to develop servings kills, at a time that guests are more experienced and more demanding

Successful candidates who complete the quickSTART program and pass the 30 multiple-choice Restaurant Server certification exam with a score of 70% or higher will receive a certificate, lapel pin and global recognition for their accomplishment.

Certified Kitchen Cook

The program is intended for on-the-job training and it’s main purpose is the development of knowledge, skills and abilities of individuals working in the Kitchen,  recognizing the importance of this department in a catering business.

The certification is supported by the “START” programs and is divided into three sections for the trainee:

  • Knowledge that all hospitality employees need
  • Knowledge specific to the Kitchen Cook position
  • Skills Validation List

Successful candidates who complete the START program and pass the certification exam will receive a certification, lapel pin and global recognition for their accomplishment.

Certified Hotel Security Officer (CLSO)

The program is designed to increase the professionalism of security officers and other employees who perform security functions at a Hospitality property. The program provides general security-related techniques as well as hospitality-specific information that employees need to know to balance security procedures and guest service.
Subject matter experts who provided insight and direction on the program included loss prevention professionals from Marriott International, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, InterContinental Hotels Group, Hyatt Hotels, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
The Lodging Security Officer program can be used to prepare for the Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO) designation, one of AHLEI professional certifications

Successful candidates will receive a certification, lapel pin and global recognition for their accomplishment.
